The keyword in everything we do: Simplicity

How can we make your work easier and more enjoyable? We look for answers to that question day in, day out. The drive for convenience and simplicity is connected with everything we do. And we go to great lengths to make that happen. How far? Our Managing Director Maarten Verbruggen can explain it best.

Project simplicity. How important is that for you?

“Extremely important. Our clients want to work without interruptions, so they can finish their projects without delays and to their customers’ satisfaction. That often depends on tiny details.”

Can you give an example?

“One good example is our Tri-white fixtures. We offered them in two variants: 3,000 and 4,000 Kelvin. They’re identical products, but with different brightness. So we combined the two fixtures and gave them a switch to let you choose the desired brightness. And then we added another option, so the fixture now combines 3.000, 4.000 and 5.700 Kelvin.”

What’s the benefit of that?

“It means our clients only need to stock one product, instead of two or three. And their inventory can be used for multifunctional applications. That saves valuable inventory space, and it simplifies logistics for your projects.”

How far do you go in the drive for simplicity?

“We can never go far enough, and we pay attention to the smallest details. Take something as minor as the packaging, for example. How easy is it to open? How accessible are the instructions? Does the light strip packaging use too many close ties? When we find something that could be done better, we coordinate with our suppliers and partners around the world. That’s how deeply we think about our products.”

That drive for simplicity sounds like a mission...

“That’s how we approach it too. And the great thing is: that mission is never accomplished. At the moment, for example, we’re studying the ideal length for an LED light strip. Right now the standard is 5 meters, but that doesn’t really address the demand. The same applies to profile strips. The standard length is 2.50 meters, but the Dutch Building Decree says that ceilings have to be 2.60 meters. So we think there must be a smarter way.”

But where do you draw the line?

“We don’t! What might seem logical to us can seem like nonsense to someone else. And if just one client suggests a smarter way to do something, then we listen. Because there might be 10 other clients who think the same way without saying anything about it. We want to serve them better too. To us, that’s what teamwork means: pioneering together and working to improve our industry as a whole. And that never gets boring!”
