When the owner of a Nistelrode apartment approached Beatrijs Lagarde with the request, ‘Help me design my home’, she saw it as quite a challenge. Fortunately, that’s exactly what Beatrijs La Garde Interior Design projects specialises in. The house transformed into a home, thanks in part to a balanced lighting plan.

“At first, we conducted a thorough volume study”, Beatrijs begins, “examining every single space in the apartment.” In the end we ended up moving walls, enlarging rooms and even designing customised room dividers. We didn’t start working on the lighting plan until we had a clear view of the floor plan. And because of that, the lighting is balanced, bold and interesting, exactly what we had in mind.”

“The eye-catcher? I’d have to say the entire end result”, Beatrijs continues. “There’s a delicate balance between basic, mood and accent lighting and my client loves the different fixture heights. Spotlights, wall lights, LED strips in cupboards and in the wardrobe... Every time you turn on the lights, it feels like a party."
