at Woonboulevard XXL
At Woonboulevard XXL every effort is made to ensure visitors feel truly welcome. Because an optimal experience starts the moment guests arrive. The parking area of Woonboulevard Poortvliet XXL was fitted with new lighting in 2024. Team member Arie Bouman shares the story.
Uniform light distribution
“Our main objective was to combine lower energy costs with an improved customer experience. The old lighting consumed a substantial portion of the electricity generated by our 8,200 solar panels, which we considered too high. Especially with an eye on the future: for example, we are building a new service station with fast chargers. That also requires electricity.”
“We opted for LED post-top lights. They offer many advantages: they are far more energy-efficient than our previous fixtures, have a longer lifespan, and result in fewer failures. In addition, the light output is excellent. Because the light is distributed all around, a single luminaire per pole is sufficient instead of two; that one fixture still delivers an even, spot-free light pattern. Another advantage is that the luminaires fit our existing lighting poles. We only had to slightly shorten the pole tops to position the fixtures perfectly.”
“Our parking area is beautifully lit, bright, yet still atmospheric”
“Because the light output of the luminaires is adjustable, we can define the lighting effect ourselves. We chose 3,300 Kelvin: 2,700 would be just a bit too low, while 4,000 is too bright. The 1,000 parking spaces, the pedestrian walkways, the green areas... the entire parking area is beautifully lit, bright, yet still atmospheric. And the investment? We calculated that it will pay for itself in around three years. All in all, a perfect business case.”
