‘Asian looks, but with a modern twist.’ The briefing Fred Verbruggen got for the design of the sushi counter at Jumbo Cuijk was remarkably short. But the owner of Decofred Horeca Interieurs knew just what they wanted.

Asia comes to life at Cuijk sushi counter

“The great thing about getting a free hand is that your creativity isn’t limited by existing requirements and preferences,” Fred explains. “The sushi counter had to exude Asia, but in a hip, contemporary way. We designed that requirement by using stylish lanterns, logos with LED neon lighting, and a folding screen hung above the counter.”

The folding screen presented a challenge: how do you create the maximum brightness with minimal dimensions. Fred found the answer in the Tronix showroom, where Light Specialist Kevin van Wanrooij demonstrated a variety of test setups. Fred: “Together, we found the ideal solution: LED strips right up against the folding screen. The individual LEDs are placed as close together as possible, so they produce the optimal brightness without seeing the individual points of light. It turned out to be a real eye-catcher!”

“The folding screen with LED lights is a real eye-catcher!”

For Fred, Tronix’ guidance and product knowledge weren’t the only plusses; he also appreciated their large inventory. “I’ve never ordered something and then had it waiting for me within the hour. Unbelievable! And it came in extremely handy, because the Jumbo headquarters is keeping a close eye on the effect of the sushi counter in Cuijk and four other locations. If the revenue growth is as high as in Cuijk, then they’re considering rolling out the sushi counter concept nationally. And I’ll need Tronix’ help again!”
