The lighting reflects the warmth of the fireplaces

For more than half a century, Boley has been manufacturing premium fireplaces in its own workshop in Veghel. They do everything themselves, from metalworking to finishing the premium end product. In late 2022, the company moved to a high-visibility location along the A50 motorway, where they converted a characterful factory building into a top-end showroom and workshop. Remarkably, Boley gives visitors behind-the-scenes access to its production facilities from the showroom, as they can take a peek right into the workshop.

INDUSTRIAL, WARM AND FLEXIBLE
VD Elektro fitted both the showroom and the workshop with high-quality lighting. "Boley wanted to emphasise the industrial character of the building as well as the authentic wooden rafters," owner of VD Elektro Harold van Dooren explains. “For the showroom, our brief was warm, characterful lighting to put visitors in the right mood. At the same time, the system had to be flexible, so that it could be adapted to the changing layout of the showroom. We hit the brief perfectly, thanks in part to Tronix Lighting.”

“We went for black rails and fixtures wherever we could in order to achieve seamless continuity with the architecture and design of the building”

NO MORE WORKING IN THE SHADOWS
According to Harold, the choice of Tronix Lighting was easily made. “Tronix Lighting is a 10 minute drive from VD Elektro, so communication was always very easy. We can easily pay each other a visit, which is always a big pro for me. Besides, they have great solutions for all your lighting needs.” Harold is particularly pleased with the LED panels with reflectors that add a special touch to the showroom. “We love how the panels come into their own at Boley and we installed various High Bays in the workshop to make sure that the workstations are well lit. An important requirement was that employees would never have to work in their own shadow.”

PRECISELY TUNED
The High Bays can be set to various wattages, Harold explains. “They’re also very easy to dim and light levels can even be precisely tuned to ambient light!" Boley doesn’t use this feature yet, “But we did configure the lighting settings for each workstation based on the calculations made by Tronix Lighting.”

MAXIMUM DESIGN FREEDOM
The showroom is fitted with track rails that can be used in combination with rail spots and pendant lights. “This approach maximises design freedom for Boley, which was one of their main wishes”, Harold concludes. “We went for black rails and fixtures wherever we could in order to achieve seamless continuity with the architecture and design of the building.”
